Synnoetics Exploring the notion of Synnoetics, or information exchange between plants, animals, humans, machines, and the ineffable; and the potential for a synnoetic system to form a power of knowing, or consciousness, greater than the sum of the parts. The Aesthetics of Gaming, Gender and Gaming, Gaming Engines examination of artist’s uses of gaming, games as an artistic medium; of issues related to gaming, gender, violence, and the aesthetics of war; and uses of gaming engines for building artistic virtual environments. Research initiated with the sponsorship of a group independent study, “RealTime Artistic Gaming” , for which organized a number of readings critical of the genre. I also wrote a critical review of “The Visual History of the VideoGame Age” and recently incorporated documentation of artists uses of gaming. I am using a gaming engine in my “Art and Virtual Environments” class.
